The word biotin comes from an ancient Greek word ‘biotos’, which means sustenance or life. Biotin is essentially a water soluble B complex vitamin (vitamin B7). Also identified as vitamin H, it plays a crucial role in biological processes. Among other functions, the nutrient helps boost energy in addition to improving your hair, skin and nails. Remember that biotin is a soluble vitamin. You therefore pass it out when you urinate. Research also shows that pregnant mothers and people undergoing certain medications suffer biotin deficiency.
